Plaza de la Min is a large, pleasant square that was built in the early 19th Century on the garden of the Convent de San Francisco. There are many fine buildings here, including the Museum of Cadiz. On one side of the square is a plaque indicating the birthplace of the composer Manuel de Falla. Born in 1870, he later lived in Madrid, Paris and Granada before dying in Argentina. He composed chamber music, ballet and opera and many of his works were based on Andalucian folk songs.
