Plaza Mayor is a beautiful, elongated square with arcades and unusual, green framed windows. The German Fugger family settled here in the 16th Century. They were bankers for Carlos V and influenced the planning of the town. The mudejar style brick Palacio Maestral is in the square. At one end is the 18th Century town hall. There are several picturesque, narrow streets leading off away from the square.
