Puerto de Toledo is the only remaining town gate of the medieval walls that surrounded Ciudad Real. The original walls were almost three miles long and were defended by 130 turrets. Admittance through the walls was by eight gates. The Puerto de Toledo was built in 1328 during the reign of Alfonso X1. It has six arches and on the outer part of the gate is the coat of arms of Castile.
