Puerto Serrano is a village on the banks of the River Guadalete and it was once a Roman port. It was taken by the Moors who built a castle and cultivated olive orchards. The present settlement was founded in 1615. Ir is situated at one end of the best Via Verde in Andalucia. This old railway line was never used by trains and it is almost completely flat. It passes through tunnels and over viaducts and it is open to cyclists as well as walkers. Bikes can be hired at Puerto Serrano.
