Lying inland of Port de Selva, the Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery is said to have been built on the site of an ancient temple to Venus. Built in the Romanesque style, the church has three naves and fine carvings on its capitals. This Benedictine Monastery became wealthy but it declined in the 17th Century and by 1789 it was dissolved. Restoration work has taken place and from the site are glorious views.
