Below the gardens of the Alcazaba is the La Colegiata de la Santa Maria la Mayor, the finest church in Antequera. This splendid building dates from the early 16th Century and it has a beautiful Renaissance facade. It is mainly the work of Diego de Siloe. Inside is a fine wooden ceiling and there are Ionic columns. Concerts take place in this lovely church.
