The Coves de Serinya have revealed proof of human occupation in Palaeolithic times. Over thirty thousand objects have been found in these limestone caves, including flint tools from France. A 200,000 year old human tooth was discovered in a cave known as Cova de Mollet. The remains of mammals such as elephants, hyenas and lions have also been found here. The caves have been under excavation since 1943 and part of the site is now open to the public.
