The Monasterio de Santa Maria de Sobrado was built by monks from Claraval in the 12th Century on the site of earlier monastic buildings. The chapter house and the Magdalena Chapel are Romanesque. The monastery was refurbished in the 15th Century but it was abandoned after the sale of church land in the 19th Century. A community of monks have returned and it is now open to visitors. The church has elaborate cupolas and there is a large kitchen.
