The Maritime Museum is located in the Royal Shipyards which date from the 13th Century and were in use for 500 years. The vast halls now display boats, models, charts, maps, paintings and ships` figureheads. Some of the maps are from before the time of Christopher Columbus. The highlight of the museum is the full scale replica of La Real, Don Juan of Austria`s royal galley which led a fleet to battle against the Turks in 1571.
