The Plaza de Espana in Aguilas is a beautiful square with gardens containing many rare plants and shrubs. There are rubber plants, palm trees and other species of trees. The square was founded in the late 19th Century and in the centre is a fountain called Pavo de la Balsa. Around the square are many buildings with 19th Century facades, including the Town Hall which was built in the Neo-mudejar style.
