Agres is a delightful, upland village topped by the ruins of a castle. It is a good starting point for exploring the Sierra de Mariola, mountains known for their wild herbs. From Agres you can reach the summit of Mont Cabrer, passing medieval ice-houses, used for preserving food, on the way. This is wonderful walking country, with several hiking trails.
