Alhama de Granada is a picturesque village perched on the edge of cliffs above a ravine. There is a 19th Century castle that has been converted from a Moorish fortress and a Gothic church which dates from the time of the Reconquest. The architect for the Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Encarnacion was Diego de Siloe and it is said that Queen Isabella embroidered the vestments inside.
