The Museum of Art is located near the cathedral in the former Episcopal Palace. The museum houses a comprehensive collection of art from the Romanesque period to the 20th Century. Among the exhibits are a 10th Century altar, a 11th Century beam with carvings of monks, a 15th Century Gothic alabaster Virgin of Besalu and many richly decorated Gothic altarpieces. The collection includes paintings, frescoes and sculptures, including 19th and 20th century pieces of art.
