The Castillo de Aguila is an old Moorish fortress which has been partly restored. Built in the 13th Century, it stands high above the village and from its site are magnificent views across the valley. On fine days they stretch as far as the Rock of Gibraltar. Lying beneath rocks, Gaucin itself is attractive with narrow streets and white washed houses topped by red roofs.
