The Castillo de San Marcos was originally built by the Moors and Alfonso X rebuilt it in the 13th Century. At one time it was the seat of the Dukes of Medinaceli. A chapel has been built on the foundations of the mosque and inside is a 13th Century sculpture of Santa Maria de Espana. The castle has impressive battlements and towers with restored inscriptions and coats of arms.
