The Church of El Salvador was built on the site of the former main mosque of Granada, from which columns, a water cistern and the horseshoe shaped patio of ablutions remain. Consecrated in 1499, the church was built in the Mudejar style and it has a Renaissance doorway by Diego de Siloe. Inside are works of art including paintings, a 17th Century Christ on the Cross and an effigy of the patron saint by Pedro de Cornejo.
