The Clock Tower houses a permanent exhibition about the history of Gijon. The original clock tower was built in the late 16th Century on Roman foundations and it was the city hall, then a prison, but it was demolished in 1911. On the ground floor of the museum are remains of the Roman ramparts and pre-Roman objects found in the area. The tour ascends through different historical periods of Gijon, and on the last floor there is a balcony overlooking the city.
