A road leads up to the peak of the volcanic Caldera de Bandama. From here are great views of the island. The crater, 200 metres deep, is a stunning sight and has interesting flora, including cacti and palm trees. It is named after Dutchman Daniel Van Damme who came here in the 16th Century. A footpath descends into the crater where there is a small farm. On the way down, a vertiginous detour leads to some Guanche caves.
