The Town Hall in Elche was built in the mid 15th Century as part of the city walls and in 1548 it was enlarged by raising the tower and giving the building a high gallery. Since the eastern wing was added in the mid 17th Century, the tower has been in the centre. More recently the building has been modified. It is the oldest town hall still in use in the southern part of Valencia.
