Ermita del Rocio is the Sanctuary of Nuestra Senora del Rocio, a 13th Century statue found here and said to have fertility powers. Her pilgrimage is one of the most well attended in Spain and many thousands of people come to the celebrations at this little town on foot, or in carts, and often in flamenco costume. The pilgrimage takes place at Whitsun and on the Sunday the Virgin (also known as Blanca Palma - the White Dove) is carried around the town.
