The Federico Garcia Lorca Park was created in memory of the poet who was shot here on the 18th of August 1936. This was at the beginning of the Spanish Civil Wwar. There is a monolith near the olive tree where he was executed. The park was made in 1986 and it is an attractive place with footpaths and fountains. There are also extracts of Lorca`s poems on walls surrounding the square.
