Guadix is known for its cave dwellings which have been dug out of the soft earth in the hillsides. These dwellings, with their quaint chimneys, are cool in summer and warm in winter. These homes date back for centuries, and many now look smart with white washed exteriors. The museum has a display about the history of the caves and there is an audio-visual presentation. Exhibited objects include tools related to traditional trades.
