Hondarribia is an ancient town which has been attacked several times over the centuries by the French. The 15th Century town walls are partly intact and the old quarter can be entered through the original gateway of Puerta de Santa Maria. Here you will see old houses with balconies and coats of arms. The Gothic Church of Santa Maria de Manzana has an impressive belltower and coats of arms.
