The Hospital Real is a splendid Renaissance and Gothic building that was founded in the 16th Century by the Catholic Monarchs. It was built to provide care for soldiers wounded in war. Designated a Historic and Artistic Monument, it is now part of Granada`s university. On its main facade are sculptures by Alonso de Mena. There are Platersque style windows. It is set in a garden and has four courtyards.
