Monasterio de la Rabida is a Franciscan monastery where Christopher Columbus stayed in the 15th Century before obtaining approval from the Catholic Monarchs for his expedition to the New World. The monastery has undergone changes, but you can see some buildings that are much the same as when Columbus was here. These include a chapel with frescoes, a meeting room and chapterhouse. There are also modern paintings telling the story of Christopher Columbus and an exhibition with models of ships.
