La Restinga is a fishing village situated at the far southern tip of the island. A large breakwater shelters the harbour and the village from storms, and nearby is a black sand beach. La Restinga is known for its water sports facilities and there are diving centres and boat trips. The waters are rich in marine flora and fauna and divers can explore fascinating, underwater rock formations.
