The construction of Empuriabrava started in the late 1960s and the resort has a fine, sandy beach with nearly twenty miles of interlocking canals. Boats of different shapes and sizes are moored on the water beside the white villas. Small motor boats can be hired to explore the canals as well as sea going craft. Boat excursions are available on the canal and along the coast and there are facilities for many kinds of water sports.
