At the Ontziola Centre for Building Traditional Boats visitors can watch artisans build wooden boats. They use the techniques, tools and materials from several centuries ago. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Basque fishermen would have made their boats using wood from the oak tree, hemp and pitch. There is also a maritime exhibition centre near the shipyard in the picturesque fishermen`s quarter.
