The Palace of La Madraza was built in the early 14th Century by the Nasrid King Yusuf 1 as an Islamic school. After Granada was taken by the Catholic Monarchs, the building was used as a chapter house. During the 18th Century it was reconstructed as a palace with a Baroque staircase and balconies. Many of its original features have gone but Moorish decorations can be seen in the oratory.
