Passeig de Vara de Rey is a beautiful boulevard to the west of the old town of Dalt Vila in Eivissa. Part of it is pedestrianised with benches and palm trees. In the centre is a monument to General Joaquim Vara de Rey of Ibiza who died in 1899 in Cuba during the war between Spain and the USA over Cuba. There are many elegant 19th Century and early 20th Century buildings in the avenue and the bars and restaurants are popular in the evenings.
