The port of Gran Tarajal lies on the south coast of Fuerteventura and it is one of the largest towns on the island. Produce from the Jandia Peninsula is exported from here. A promenade with cafes, restaurants and palm trees backs the long, black sand beach which offers safe swimming. There is a fountain with sea horses spouting water. Nearby is the single nave late 19th Century church.
