Puig des Molins was chosen as a burial site by the Phoenicians in the seventh Century BC. Having no snakes or scorpions, Ibiza met their religion`s requirement for a burial ground with no poisonous creatures. The site was also used by the Romans. On the hillside are more than three thousand tombs and a short walking trail wanders around them. Some of the Punic artefacts found on the site are in the Archaeology Museum.
