Valor is an attractive village in the Alpujarra and it has a 16th Century Mudejar church with an artesonado ceiling and a Baroque image of Cristo de la Yedra. Valor is the birthplace of Aben Humeya who lead the rebellion of 1568 against the Christians. A Moors and Christians festival is held here every year in the middle of September. There are several pleasant walks starting from the village that pass through sweet chestnut and olive groves.
