The village of Castillo del Romeral on the east coast of Gran Canaria has a beautiful, long, sandy beach with date palms and small whitewashed houses. It was once the centre of the salt industry and it is named after a castle that is no longer standing. This small village has a jetty and few facilities apart from the fish food restaurants, for which it is well known.
