Yegen Village

Yegen is a village in the Las Alpujarras where the Englsh writer Gerald Brenan lived in the 1920s. He wrote the book South from Granada which was made into a film. The house where he lived is marked by a plaque and it is off the main square. Born in Malta, he later came to live in Yegen for several years. Brenan wrote other books, includng The Face of Spain. He died in 1987. The village is a good base for walks.
