In the little town of Ormaiztegi is a museum dedicated to the life of Tomas Zumalacarregui. It is in the house where he was brought up as a child. He fought on the side of Don Carlos in the Carlist war and won several battles in the 1830s. He obeyed orders to besiege Bilboa but was unsuccessful and died from his wounds. The museum`s exhibits includes documents about the war and politics of his time.
