Casa Colon is where Christopher Columbus is said to have stayed on the island before setting off on his first voyage to the New World in 1492. As a guest of Beatriz de la Bobadilla, he stayed on La Gomera for several weeks. The present building is a 17th Century house with a wooden balcony and exhibitions about the voyages of Christopher Columbus are held here. There are also occasional displays of contemporary art.
