Castillo de San Pedro was built during the late 16th Century in the French pentagonal plan that was usual at the time. It was part of a defensive system of fortresses and towers to protect the border with France. The fort is surrounded by a moat and offers views of the surrounding countryside. It is possible to visit part of the interior but only on a guided tour.
