The Cueva de Valporquero are a complex of limestone caves that were formed about twenty million years ago. The huge system stretches for about two miles under the ground and some of it is open to the public. There are guided tours of galleries with rocks coloured different shades of red and black by iron and sulphur oxides. The most impressive is the Gran Rotonda which is more than sixty feet high.
