The Church of San Mateo dates from the 15th and 16th centuries when it was built in the Gothic and Renaissance styles by Jeronimo Hernandez and Juan Bautista Vazquez. Its most important feature is the octagonal Capilla del Sagrario which was built in the mid 18th Century. It is the work of Leonardo del Castro and boasts a beautiful marble entrance, exquisite painted plasterwork, scrollwork and sculptures.
