Part of the former Convent of San Marcos is now a Parador hotel. Its origins go back to the 12th Century when it was founded as a lodging place for pilgrims on the route to Santiago de Compostella. Dating from 1513, the present building was the headquarters of the Knights of St James. The 100 metres long plateresque facade is decorated with medallions and friezes of biblical and historical scenes.
