The Convent of Santa Clara was founded in the 13th Century after the recapture of the city by the Christians. It is one of the oldest in Jaen. Inside, the church has a lovely marquetry ceiling with stars, known as artesonado, and a 16th Century bamboo image of Christ from Ecuador. The attractive cloister is late 16th Century. The convent is a few minutes walk from St Andrew`s Chapel.
