Near Loja is an important archaeological site where people lived in prehistoric times. Archeologists have discovered the remains of a Megalithic settlement and several burial chambers. Some have been dug out of the rock. At this Bronze Age site there were also finds from later historic periods. These include remains from medieval times and an Islamic watchtower.
