Located in a lush valley, the attractive village of Hermigua is known for its hand-made rugs and other crafts. In the area, dates, grapes and bananas are cultivated. One of the oldest building is the 16th Century Church of Santo Domingo. The beach at Hermigua is covered with shingle and is not a safe place to swim. To the east, one hour`s walk by footpath, is the Playa de la Caleta, a quiet, black sand beach.
