The Casa de los Balcones is a well known landmark in the town of La Orotava. Originally built as two houses in the mid 17th Century for colonists, its name is derived from the beautifully carved balconies overlooking the courtyard. Upstairs is a museum telling the story of the building whilst the remainder is a souvenir and craft shop where you can watch local people demonstrating their crafts and buy hand crafted products such as embroidery and pottery.
