The Marismas of Isla Cristina Natural Park consists of salt marshes, creeks and disused salt pans. Around the marshes are sand dunes with pines and juniper trees. The reserve attracts many species of birds such as spoonbills, storks, flamingoes, black-winged stilts and marsh harriers. Montagu`s harriers, bee-eaters and hoopoes breed here. The best time to visit is in the winter. To the north of the town there is a footpath known as the Sendoro de Molino Mareal de Pozo del Camino that goes through the marshes.
