Jaen`s cathedral was built in the 16th and 17th centuries to the design of Andres de Vandelvira. The main front is decorated with balconies and statues sculpted for the most part by Pedro Roldan. Inside, the church has three naves, a fine cupola, richly carved choir stalls, many chapels, an elegant chapter house and upper galleries. Behind the main altar is a chapel containing the Reliquia del Santo Rostro, a cloth with an image of Christ`s face.
