The Iglesia de la Magdelena Church is the oldest church in Jaen. Originally, it was a mosque and the tower, rebuilt in the 16th Century, was its minaret. The church has a Gothic facade and inside the outstanding retable is by Jacobo Florentino. Behind the church is a Muslim patio with a pool that was used for ritual ablutions. In the courtyard is a collection of Roman tombstones with inscriptions.
