The Lebrija - Las Cabezas Natural Reserve is an important wetland reserve. It consists of six lakes although only one, the Taraje Lake, has water all the year round. Surrounding the lakes are reeds, rushes and tamarisk. The most common birds to be seen here are purple herons, cattle egrets, mallards and coots. Other birds that visit the reserve include black-winged stilt, snipe, purple gallinules, hoopoes and bee-eaters.
