Samos Monastery is a large structure on the Pilgrim`s Route to Santiago de Compostela. The first monastery was built here in the 6th Century and much later it became a Benedictine monastery. Most of the structure has been rebuilt in the Baroque style but there is a Romanesque doorway. There are two cloisters and in the larger one is a statue to the writer monk Feijoo. The facade of the church dates back to the 18th Century and inside are statues of kings. The refectory is in the Renaissance style and there is a Neo-gothic staircase. Monks still live here and farm the land.
